From Dive Bars to Vineyards: Our Summer Recap

NEWSLETTER #009

What the Traveling Twosome has Been Up To This Summer (Hint: There’s Wine and Dive Bars Involved)

Not every adventure requires a passport. This summer, we traded international flights for hometown hangs, road trip playlists, and a lot of patio time right here in the Pacific Northwest. And honestly? It was just what we needed.

We spent the summer soaking up Boise, catching concerts, checking out new bars and restaurants, and making memories with the friends who feel like family.

But the highlight? A weeklong road trip through Idaho, Washington, and Oregon with our good friends Jim and Lisa. Here’s the quick and tasty recap…

Road Trippin’ Highlights – The Bars, the Bites, and the Bottles

  • McCall, ID: We kicked things off lakeside, crashing with friends and heading to Mile High Marina Bar - where the drinks were cold and the boat-launch entertainment was top-tier. This spot’s now officially on the No Bar Too Far map.
  • Juliaetta, ID: If you haven’t heard of Rivaura Estate Vineyard, trust us—it’s worth the detour. Perched above the Clearwater River, we enjoyed a dreamy afternoon of tasting Rosé, Viognier, and Insomniac (a bold red blend you’ll want to track down).
  • Moscow, ID: We stayed with friends and hit two standout bars - Garden Lounge (newly remodeled, with that classic college town vibe) and Persephone Wine & Cider Bar, a perfect cozy hangout. Definitely No Bar Too Far material - quirky, local, and low-key fabulous. And speaking of dive bars – of course, we went to The Corner Club. IYKYK…..
  • Wallace, ID: Picture this: You roll into town and stumble onto a surprise music festival. We made new friends, danced a little, and found ourselves at 1313 Club and Cogs Gastropub - both solid entries into our growing No Bar Too Far hall of fame. Wallace may be small, but it’s got serious bar personality.
  • Sandpoint, ID: We loved our waterfront dinner at Barrel 33, but the night really took off at the 219 Lounge. Local characters, strong pours, and a playlist straight out of 1998. What more could you want?
  • Spokane, WA: We slowed things down with a quiet night at our Airbnb (The Blue Bungalow) and popped open a bottle (or two) from Maryhill Winery. Nothing fancy—just good friends, good wine, and a home-cooked meal.
  • Walla Walla, WA: If wine country’s your thing, move Walla Walla to the top of your list. With over 150 wineries, we focused on a few up-and-coming stars: Saviah Cellars, Patterson, Browne Family, and Rotie Cellars. Dinner at TMACS and drinks at The Green Lantern wrapped up our trip perfectly - classy, then a little divey (balance is everything).

Back Home in Boise

We came back with full hearts, fuller wine racks, and a list of bars and wineries we can’t wait to revisit. We’re still sharing our No Bar Too Far journey on Instagram - highlighting the best local dives and global gems that make travel so fun (even when you're just road-tripping with friends and laughing in the truck).
