Unlocking Travel Secrets: 10 Game-Changing Travel Hacks You Haven't Tried Yet

Ready to transform your travel experiences? The Traveling Twosome has curated a selection of unconventional hacks that go beyond the typical tips. These insider tricks are designed to make your journeys smoother, more enjoyable, and uniquely memorable. Let's dive in!

  • Jet Lag Hack - Party West, Sleep East: Heading from Europe to the US? Party hard on the plane! Snacks, movies, cocktails—it’s a party in the sky. But when flying the other way? It’s all about sleep. Skip the big meal, hold off on the booze, and catch as many Zs as you can. Trust us, your body will thank you.
  • Fishing Vest for Extra Storage: Forget about squishing your life into a carry-on. Grab a fishing vest—yes, you heard that right! It’s stylish, functional, and a lifesaver (Steve Approved!). Fill up those pockets with your essentials—shirts, socks, Kindle, even snacks—and keep your bag light. Who needs a suitcase when you’ve got a vest?
  • Order Instacart for Home Delivery: You’ve just landed after a long flight, and the last thing you want to do is shop for groceries. Skip the stale chips and order fresh food straight to your door to arrive at the same time you get home.
  • Bring an Outlet Extender to the Airport: If outlets are few and far between, you can share with others – or convince someone else to share their outlet if you have enough plugs for both of you!
  • Use a Sarong for Versatility: It’s a beach towel, a blanket, a raincoat, a bag, or an emergency rope (who knows when you’ll need one?)—the sarong is the Swiss Army knife of travel gear. Throw one in your bag and thank us later.
  • Use a Night Light in Hotel Rooms: Ever stumbled through a hotel room in the dark, trying not to break a toe? No more! Pack a tiny nightlight to avoid those 2 a.m. bathroom mishaps and save yourself from a bruised ego and a stubbed toe.
  • Pack a Portable Door Lock: Security first, adventure second. Whether you’re in a swanky hotel or a sketchy guesthouse, a portable door lock adds an extra layer of peace of mind when you’re in an unfamiliar place. Better safe than sorry, right?
  • Bring a Reusable Shopping Bag: You know those days when you’re schlepping back from the market or beach? Pop a foldable reusable bag in your luggage—it’s light, compact, and comes in clutch for all those extra purchases that didn’t fit in your carry-on.
  • Join an Expat Facebook Group: Want the inside scoop on the best hidden gems in your destination? Join an expat group for local restaurant tips, the holidays you’ll want to avoid, and all the must-see spots (plus the ones you should skip). Locals know best!
  • Purchase Clothes at a Local Thrift Shop: Didn’t pack that extra coat or umbrella? No worries. Buy what you need locally, use it, and donate it when you leave. It’s like a revolving wardrobe—Reuse, Reduce, Recycle!

NEWSLETTER #009 What the Traveling Twosome has Been Up To This Summer (Hint: There’s Wine and Dive Bars Involved) Not every adventure requires a passport. This summer, we traded international flights for hometown hangs, road trip playlists, and a lot of patio time right here in the Pacific Northwest. And honestly? It was just what we needed. We spent the summer soaking up Boise, catching concerts, checking out new bars and restaurants, and making memories with the friends who feel like...
